Earthquake loss alerts by the software QLARM (Quake Loss Assessment for Response and Mitigation). After every significant earthquake, the estimated number of fatalities and injured due to the collapse of buildings are calculated by QLARM, and uploaded to the GOBEYOND Processing Core. The data are made available in GeoJSON and WMS/WFS formats, and contain estimated numbers of fatalities and injured, based on calculated building damage, as well as locations of airports and hospitals with their likely damage state.

The QLARM loss estimation capability has been demonstrated in a publication for 2 earthquakes each in Italy, Greece, Morocco and Spain by comparison with reported fatalities, as well as in 1481 events worldwide in near-real-time. A scenario calculation for losses due to a possible great earthquake offshore Portugal, located near the 1755 Lisbon earthquake and for several scenarios in the Azores were calculated. For Setúbal, Andalucía and the province of Chefchaouen special scenarios will be prepared including damage estimates to hospitals and airports. In cases of earthquakes in Europe, the Mediterranean or Worldwide, loss estimates will be available in near real-time.
