Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the open call and submission process.

University groups, innovation and technological centres and technological small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) from the EU Member States, Overseas Countries and Territories, and Horizon Europe Associated Countries are eligible to apply. Applicants cannot be GOBEYOND partners, affiliates, or employees.

The GOBEYOND Innovation Prize requires applicants to be legally established entities. Individual freelancers or informal groups that are not legally recognized (e.g., unregistered startups) would not be eligible. Freelancers or individuals without formal legal status must partner with an eligible entity to apply.

The submission deadline is January 31, 2025, at 17:00 CET.

No, applicants are limited to submitting one proposal only. If more than one proposal from the same applicant is identified, only the last proposal which has been submitted in order of time will be evaluated. Different research groups within the same university are eligible to apply.

Proposals will undergo an evaluation where 3 evaluators will assess them based on quality, alignment with the project, and implementation feasibility. Every application will be evaluated using a standard scoring scale. After completing individual assessments, the experts' scores will be averaged to produce a preliminary ranking, identifying the top-performing applications. Finalists will pitch their solutions at the 1st GOBEYOND Workshop, where partners will vote on the winner.

Your proposal should directly contribute to the development or enhancement of Multi-Risk Impact-based Early Warning Systems (MR-IEWS). It should focus on providing actionable, data-driven solutions that improve decision making for geo- and weather-related hazards, supporting Civil Protection Authorities and first responders.

Your implementation plan should outline the estimated effort required to integrate your solution with the existing MR-IEWS, enabling a real-time demonstration on the pilot site demonstrations throughout the project’s duration. The selected winner will need to work closely with GOBEYOND’s technical team to ensure seamless integration, addressing any technical challenges, and adapting your solution to the various pilot sites and operational environments.

By submitting a proposal to the GOBEYOND Innovation Prize, you retain full intellectual property rights (IPR) to your solution. You must ensure that your submission does not infringe on third-party IP rights. All the IPRs of development platforms belong to GOBEYOND Consortium Partners or third parties that have made all the necessary license and user rights agreements.

If access to specific data is essential to your proposal, you must outline how you intend to gain access to the necessary data. This could include partnerships with data providers, agreements with government bodies, or utilizing publicly available datasets. The feasibility of obtaining this data will be a factor in the evaluation of your proposal.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme for research and innovation under grant agreement No. 101121135.
