Our Vision

As our world faces increasing challenges from natural hazards, the need for solutions well integrated into the real-life protocols of authorities and first responders has never been more urgent.

Both geo and weather-related disasters are causing widespread disruption, threatening lives, livelihoods, and infrastructure. Moreover, climate change is intensifying these phenomena, while growing populations and expanding urban areas are increasing vulnerability.

GOBEYOND’s vision is to revolutionize Disaster Risk Management by developing and implementing a Multi-Risk Impact-based Early Warning System (MR-IEWS) for geo and weather hazards. Integrating impact-based forecasting, we will provide  timely and accurate warnings to empower decision-makers, emergency responders, and communities.

The MR-IEWS will integrate the latest advancements in observation systems, real-time data, local layers, predictive algorithms and platforms for impact forecasting, to provide timely and accurate warnings that can turn into actionable decisions.

Collaboration lies at the heart of our approach, with the Living Labs Framework to develop Decision Support Systems (DSS) platforms, adapted to support Civil Protection Authorities (CPAs) and first responders in their situational awareness and rapid deployment in Europe, and Union for the Mediterranean countries. Our platforms will be tested in real-world environments through a series of regional/municipal demonstrations. These demonstrations will run 24/7 for 24 months, allowing us to validate our systems under operational conditions and achieve Technology Readiness Levels 7 and 8. By combining the use of state-of-the-art technology and a collaborative design of the DSS we aim to empower communities' response; building a safer, more resilient future for all.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme for research and innovation under grant agreement No. 101121135.
