Estepona, Lepe & Isla Cristina

Demonstration overview

As part of the regional pilot in Andalucia, this municipal demonstration focuses on the development and testing of early warning capabilities in three municipalities: Estepona, Lepe, and Isla Cristina. These areas are regularly exposed to a range of natural hazards, placing increasing pressure on local authorities to improve risk forecasting, citizen communication, and emergency response mechanisms.

Solution

This demonstration aims to equip local governments with a tailored version of the GOBEYOND platform, adapted specifically for municipal-level needs. Each municipality brings unique geographical and socio-economic features that help test the flexibility and effectiveness of the platform across different hazard contexts and urban environments.

Through this solution, municipalities will gain access to:

  • Location-specific Situational Warnings (SSWs)
  • Dynamic risk mapping for multi-hazard scenarios
  • Tools to support municipal emergency protocols and resource allocation
  • Real-time dashboards for local civil protection teams

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme for research and innovation under grant agreement No. 101121135.
